Most of us watch movies at the theater, on DVD, or at home on cable. But now, if you are in downtown Salt Lake City , Utah , you can watch movies from store windows. This is definitely a new approach to movie watching. Salt Lake City officials are calling it Sidewalk Cinema.
Starting today, August 8th, you can view short films that will be projected onto vacant storefront windows along Main Street . These mini-movie venues are sure to grab your attention as you’re taking a stroll or waiting for the TRAX train.
The movies are meant for local artists to showcase their work. There will also be some international short films. Screens will be active for 18 hours every day. The Sidewalk Cinema is sponsored by the Utah Arts Council, the Salt Lake Film Center and others.
Next time you are in downtown Salt Lake City , Utah on Main Street , be sure to look for one of these short films. This is just another innovative thing Salt Lake City is doing to help keep its residents happy and entertained.
